Hallo,

Hello
It looks to be possible. The current possibility are limited by 8-bit variable used to measure time between next tone samples. I will try to use 16-bit variable. It should extend a lot the sound frequency range.
It needs few days of work to do this, hmm... can start it at the end of next week after finishing actually mounted series of varios.

It is very important reason. It motivate me to work ;-)

it would be nice, if will extend the sound

thanks a lot

Hi Micha,

Yesterday do some sound developement and found method to get lower vario tone. Made several experiments and recorded sound from highest to lowest in all most wanted cases.
Metodology is based on mixing 2 frequency: one, relatively high in optimal range of frequencies what can pass through the radio link, with second frequency 2, 3 or 4 times lower then optimal. Details are described bit more here.

Below are some modifications of base frequency 2x lower then current one:

Below are modifications of base frequency 3x lower:

And 4x lower:

Here is original vario tone: http://www.pitlab.pl/wario/dzwiek/sinus08.wav
Here is all files packed together: http://www.pitlab.pl/wario/dzwiek/vario_tone.zip

Request for all of you: Please select the best tone for you. Then i will publish firmware with most wanted tone.
ps. For a weekend i am leaving home, will be back on Monday.

Hello Piotrek,

my favorite is 24x08.

And thanks for your work

Hello Piotrek,

i tested "my" version on saturday and must say, that i'm very satisfied with it ;-)
that's what i had in mind

thanks a lot for that service

I'd prefer the 24 x 12 ( 24 since I like the tonal range, x 12 since it gives a smoother sound compared to the 24 x 8 ).
The 'smoothness' of the sound may however be less of an issue when listened via the transmitter=>receiver=>earphone chain

I have another serious problem with sound: want to implement more then one sound definition to free user choice, but the program memory is almost finished. The microcontroller has only 8kB of memory.
Will try to optimize some procedures, maybe will have to remove something almost not used like hysteresis if vario signal.
Maybe better solution will be storing only one sound and rest of memory reserve for something other?

I'd definitely keep program memory for something more important than a choice of vario sounds - for my part, I could live with many of the suggested sounds.
If somebody wants a very special version, could this be customized in a similar way as the voice message samples? Or (from a program maintenance point of view a nightmare, I know), have two versions of the firmware with vario sound A and vario sound B.

I thought about it, but need 16/24/32 bytes of free RAM to store definition loaded from somewhere. At this moment have 14 bytes free of RAM. Samples have much smaller rolling buffer, but speaking a message uses all CPU power - it is not acceptable for sound.

Yes, it is quite easy. Now this way is used to generate national versions. One library with gramatic is joined with rest of the programm. Can be easy modified to generate version with other sound.
