hallo,

Thank you Karsten for this action. I will try to react to collected problems as soon as possible. Now is top of season for production so my reaction can be bit slower then in normal period. Hope all of you can understand this. This is the main reason idea of "priority" for errors. Some of them are not critical and can wait for cold period, when is espected to be more free time for developement :-)

Have also idea for a new vario feature. Some users use vario only for generating voice messages. Most of time vario is silent in that situation. Do you find usefull turn off transmitter while vario is silent?
I can set internal flag "silent" in firmware and when it is active turn off transmitter saving current and our ears.
Weak point of that feature can be that, you will not have information about possible end of transmitter range. Ussually range should be big enough, but in some situation when antena is placed in wrong way, range can be shorter. Solution can be to add this feature only for "3-way switch action" mode, when possible is turning off the vario signal. When user will be unsure about vario range will can switch to "vario tone present" mode.

Excellent idea to turn HF off when there is nothing to transmit. Especially helpful when you take a little break between flights...
Of course warnings would re-activate the transmission I hope.

two contributions to the list of known bugs -

one addition to the 'vario only recognized when connected before start of PC software' issue - I've seen some instances where the vario is connected at SW startup (and is recognized from the start, as shown by the status indication in the bottom right corner of the program window), however, many of the device related menu items are inactive still. This issue disappears after some time by itself, and all menu items are accessible.

the other addition is a sporadic crash of the PC SW when using higher zoom levels - last occurence for me was when I had zoom level at a high value (unfortunately no more detail..) and was just scrolling from a 30% of the log position to the end. (In this situation, there appears a Microsoft message window with a mixture of Polish and English text which I have a screenshot of - could send it per e-mail, as there doesn't seem to be a way to include attachments on the forum?)

:D Simply XP needs bit more time then 2k to find new device.

I disabled it because... there was no code for that feature. Long time ago i add tracking voltage and altitude. The temperature as less important was postponed for "next time". This time never comes.
This feature looks simple, but needs chcecking actual value with 2 other with 2 histeresis - it need lot of code. Now i have highly limited space for code and think this feature is not worth implementing.

Sorry, my error. Simply remove line "150=... " from vario_ger.lng file. Next version will be published with fixed (and maybe transated if Piotr will return back from holidays) description.

Opss, sorry. Will resize space for text.

This is fixed for safety. Long time ago speaking with Piotr we reach agreement that will be better remind voltage level to user few times more, then once time less. In that time we don't think about powering from 3Lixx cell, so maybe it is not actual, but this needs to be discussed before change.

On the value change triggered Temperature announcement -
pitlab hat geschrieben:I disabled it because... there was no code for that feature (...) Now i have highly limited space for code and think this feature is not worth implementing.
I'd agree - the available temperature alarm seems sufficient

On the button help texts -
pitlab hat geschrieben:Simply remove line "150=... " from vario_ger.lng file.
yep - that does the job :-)

There's a minor flaw with the announcements during offline configuration - the sequence of the voice samples for logging period is mixed up - in German it says "100 Sekunden Milli"

Yes, i know about it. It is result of my mistake while making first version of samples, consisting in reverse order of the 2 samples: "mili.wav" and "sekunden.wav".
First i tried correct it by changing order in firmware - it works good, until german female samples appear (with correct index). It was clear signal to me: nothing should be done temporary, every error has to be understanded and fixed from the begining to the end.
Since a few versions ago, order of samples in firmware is corrected (uniform for all other versions). Also recompiled the samples.

Solution is: write the samples (*.saw file) again into variometer.
The actual version is here:
http://www.pitlab.pl/down/vario_saw_de_ma19.zip - male, ver 1.9
http://www.pitlab.pl/down/vario_saw_de_fe11.zip - female, ver 1.1

Another area where the status line help texts got mixed up is the Menu bar help (not sure if that's the right term - I mean the "File - View - Configuration - ..." bar).
For the items in most of the menues below the top level the help texts appear to be shifted - with some surplus 'nu' entries which seem to cause the shift

Thank you for information. This is result of adding Basic/Advanced mode - added menu position and forget about description. Sorry, it will be fixed in new subversion.

an update on the open issues based on SW 2.292 / FW 2.29d -

- the new function to disable logging while connected to USB is really helpful - so far, I had to use the offline configuration mode to switch on logging when I was ready to fly.

- the mix-up of help texts is cured

- a new minor issue in the firmware: during initialisation, I regularly get a voltage alarm with a non-realistic low voltage reading - while the actual battery voltage is e.g. 12.4V, and the alarm threshold is set to 10.1V, I get a voltage alarm with the value of 3.5V. If I manually trigger a voltage announcement, I get the correct reading of 12.4V. The erratic alarm occurs only once during initialisation - maybe some side effect of the filtering?

- as I described in the thread 'der Ton macht die Musik', the vario tone is not 100% perfect yet.

I worked a lot on improving quality of altitude zeroing (it still not works as good as i wish) and changed time of some actions during initialisation. It could be a reason of wrong alarm, because some measurements are done later in time. At home i am working without external power - this is way i not see it. Will try to check it this week.
